Grindhouse Releasing Presents Two World Premieres at Beyond Fest: IMPULSE and THE BEYOND: THE COMPOSER’S CUT!

William Shatner To Appear In-Person for Screening of William Grefé’s Cult Classic Thriller IMPULSE, showing October 9 at the American Cinematheque – Aero Theater in Los Angeles as part of Beyond Fest

Grindhouse Releasing, the premier distributor of quality exploitation, is excited to present two big world premieres this week at Beyond Fest, North America’s biggest and best genre film festival, now happening in Los Angeles!

On Friday, October 7 at 10 p.m at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, the gates of hell will open for the world premiere of THE BEYOND: THE COMPOSER’S CUT. From legendary Italian horror master Lucio Fulci comes the ultimate classic of supernatural terror, as you’ve never seen and heard it before: newly restored in 4K from the original camera negatives with a new alternate music score by the original composer, maestro Fabio Frizzi!

On Sunday, October 9, we are honored to be joined by the great William Shatner for the world premiere of our 4K restoration of director William Grefé’s IMPULSE, the dark and shocking 1974 psycho thriller starring Shatner as deranged conman and gigolo Matt Stone. This SHATNER MARATHON will also feature KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS and THE DEVIL’S RAIN!

Directed by legendary exploitation filmmaker William Grefé (THE DEATH CURSE OF TARTU), and co-starring Jenifer Bishop (Al Adamson’s THE FEMALE BUNCH), Ruth Roman (Hitchcock’s STRANGERS ON A TRAIN), Harold “Oddjob” Sakata (GOLDFINGER), and William Kerwin (Herschell Gordon Lewis’ BLOOD FEAST). IMPULSE is being presented in a beautiful new master lovingly restored in 4K from rare archival 35mm film elements.

“A grim, unrelenting study of a psychopathic killer. Shatner is surprisingly strong in an enormously demanding role.”

– Box Office Magazine

“Well-crafted and effective… flowing with Grefe’s scalpel-sharp direction.”

– Alex Ben Block, The Miami News

“Shatner is incredible and frightening during his lapses into insanity. There are a number of vividly horrifying murder scenes which make even adults cringe.”

– Perry Fulkerson, The Evening Independent

“William Shatner is very effective in it. It’s a performance right up there with his work in The Intruder.”

– Joe Leydon, Variety
